What are the first signs of pregnancy?
Truthfully, these are not signs of pregnancy, but mere clues. You may experience all the first signs of early pregnancy and not be pregnant. Or then, you may hardly have any symptoms and yet be pregnant. Don't ignore these signs but don't depend on them entirely either. Some early signs of pregnancy that can indicate that you are positively pregnant are—missed menses, morning sickness, frequent need to urinate, tender or swollen breasts, and nipple changes (areola darkens and the tiny glands look more visible).
Can I be pregnant and still have my period?
There is irregular bleeding during pregnancy, but nothing like a "normal" period. This bleeding or spotting during pregnancy is often a dark brown colour or a light pinkish. There should not be enough bleeding to fill pads or tampons over a few days. If you are bleeding enough to fill pads and tampons, then this is an indication that you are not pregnant.
What if I have symptoms of pregnancy but then have a heavy period?
If you notice early pregnancy symptoms like nausea, tiredness, swollen/tender breasts, etc., but then have heavy bleeding, you should see your doctor to find out what is going on. This could be caused by a hormonal imbalance, an infection, or a possible miscarriage. But the only way to know for sure is by seeking medical care.
