Sleep Positions During Pregnancy

2013-03-25 18:17:00 +0530

Is sleeping on my back or tummy risky during pregnancy?
As the belly expands, sleeping on it will not only be highly uncomfortable but also close to impossible as your size increases. Sleeping on your back will put the entire extra weight on it leading to severe back aches. Hence, side-lying positions are the best. Crossing one leg over the other with a pillow in between is best for both the mother and the baby. This position not only optimises blood flow to the placenta but also ensures smooth functioning of the kidneys.
